AKSHAYA TRITYA-3 MAY 2022
Akshaya Tritya or Akha Teej will be celebrated this year on May3, 2022. It is considered to be the most auspicious day according to Hindu mythology and is celebrated on the third day of Sukhla Paksha of Vaisakh month.
The word Akshaya means endless never diminishing, therefore this festival is associated with endless wealth, prosperity, and happiness.
Significance of Akshay tritya
Birth of lord Parrshuram
Lord Parshuram was born on this day according to old Mythological beliefs. Lord Parshuram is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Birth of Goddess Annapurna;
Annapurna is the Goddess of food, hence this day is also celebrated as the birth of Goddess Annapurna and is known incarnation of Goddess Parvati
Mahabharata connection:
It is believed that Lord Ganesh started to write Mahabharata on dictation of Maharishi Ved Vyas.
In Mahabharata, there was Yudhishtar. He was the son of Dharma and the eldest of all five brothers (Pandavas). Yudhistar was given a bowl – Akshay Patram by Lord Krishna at Thirumanthurai Temple. The bowl expressed to give illimitable victuals. Yudhishtar used to this bowl to avail and accommodate pabulum to poor people. This incident of giving the bowl to Yudhishtar transpired on the day of Akshay Tritiya.
